Utspann means relax in the local language, you might notice how it relates to the High German ausspannen. If there's one thing we take seriously here, it's relaxation. Whether you speak German or not, we think you'll definitely notice how relaxing your stay is at our hotel. How quickly you wind down and let go. And we'll do everything we can to make sure you feel right at home at our hotel. Discover Husum, a small city on the west coast of Northern Germany. It's all here in Husum... a stroll through the Old Town, a tour around the many small well-stocked shops, a walk across the magnificent castle grounds. Plus art and culture galore with lots of fantastic exhibitions and museums. They might have called it the grey city by the sea, but you'll find no end of life and colour here with a lot of North Sea flair.

Tradition and new ideas
There has been a gastronomic offering at our location since 1877. What began as a bar for carriage travelers has developed over the decades into a hotel with a restaurant and finally a small wellness department.
Together with our predecessors Margit and Ove Thomsen, we - Sönnje Andresen and Ralph Speer - have laid the foundation for a sustainable concept for the years to come. As part of a carefully planned and sliding operational transfer starting in 2018, we were able to take on more and more management tasks step by step and even after the handover was completed in 2024, the Thomsen family will continue to be there to provide friendly advice and experience.
